Assignment 0: How It’s Made!

Goals

This goal of this assignment is to get you thinking about the process in which things are made.

Instructions

1. Watch the following videos on how things are made:
   • Birch Bark Berry Basket
   • Paddles
   • Buttons
   • Wintergatan Marble Machine (Part 1)
   • Pasta Maker
   • Silk Fiber Lamps

Most of these videos are from the “How It’s Made” series. Many of the videos for the series can be found at this YouTube channel.

1. Think of an object that you have wondered about how it is imade, or an object that you want to make. Find a video from the series that shows how its made. Also, search on the web for makers with videos about crafts you are interested in.

Use this Google form to send us two additional videos: * One from the “How It’s Made” channel above. * One other YouTube video of someone making something that you thought was interesting.

We will be compile these videos online and discuss some of them in class!
